EduLink Africa

Using existing structures and technology EduVentures has established a National Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Network, for strengthening the implementation of EE/ESD in Namibian schools, referred to as EduLink.  Namibia already have a diverse of ESD practitioners, the EduLink ESD Network build on, rather than replacing  or replicating, systems and structures already in place such as existing EE centre and school clusters system. The EduLink ESD network aims to equip educators at EEC in the regions and teachers of the nearby school cluster with pedagogical content knowledge, to enable cross-curricular teaching of ESD through hands-on learning using real life examples. The EduLink project is based on the principle of a multiplier effect by advocating three tiers of training, namely ESD Educator training, teacher training, and primary and secondary school learner education.

Given the experience of the National EduLink ESD network project of EduVentures, together with three partner organisations, Surplus People Project (SPP) Pietmaritzberg Agency (PACSA) in South Africa and Associacao para Solidaridade e Desenvolvimento de Auto Ajuda (ASDA) in Mozambique, an EduLink Africa transnational project to improve environmental education and adaptation to climate change was instigated. The starting point for the planning of the transnational project was three project proposals for food security and climate adaptation by the SODI partners ASDA in Mozambique and PACSA or SPP in South Africa. Content-related intersections such as environmental education, climate adaptation and agroecology were so obvious, that it was decided to make it a transnational project. This will push the agenda of the EduLink project, which is aimed at connectivity among people at regional level and establish networks of collaboration. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, PACSA withdrew from the project.
